Originally from Springfield, Illinois, Dr. Brown has been practicing in Tempe/Phoenix, Arizona since 1994. While attending California Western School of Law in San Diego, he decided instead on a career in Chiropractic after having Chiropractic treatment for sports injuries. He began studying Acupuncture while in Chiropratic college, and has incorporated Acupuncture and Physiotherapy into his practice throughout his entire career. Dr. Brown is also certified to perform Manipulation Under Anesthesia (MUA) through the National Academy of MUA Physicians.

Much of Dr. Brown's expertise in treating pain and injuries comes from his own experience. He began having back pain in high school and over the years has competed in running, cycling and bodybuilding. He knows firsthand how to treat pain and injuries from treating his own conditions and sports injuries. Any conditions he has not personally had himself, he has experience treating on other people. Whatever ache or pain you currently may have, Dr. Brown will do his best to help you with it or refer you to someone who can. He has treated amateur and professional athletes from almost all sports.

Dr. Brown also teaches at Arizona State University and other colleges and universities. He is a Faculty Associate at ASU and teaches Functional Anatomy & Kinesiology in the ASU Kinesiology Department. Downtown Tommy Brown

Chump

My name is Tom Brown (a.k.a. Downtown Tommy Brown) and I am a patient of Dr. Brown (no relation by the way). I came to Dr. Brown on a referral from my PCP and let me tell you, that was one of the best things to happen to me since moving here from Pennsylvania. I was experiencing some severe back pain and it was Dr. Brown who put me on a course to relieve me from all of that pain. Besides the Chiropractic treatments given by Dr. Brown, he took it a step further by educating me about vitamins, exercise and how the body reacts to stress. Dr. Brown and his wonderful staff's approach to Chiropractic Medicine is very refreshing to say the least. One stop shopping is what I like to say. Everything you need is right there in the offices of Dr. Brown. If you have any questions about insurance, just talk to Rachel who is the first person you'll see when you make your first visit. She'll answer all your questions and make all the phone calls to your insurance provider. If you're experiencing any lower back pain, you owe it to yourself to stop into the offices of Dr. B.

Downtown Tommy Brown is also a stand-up comedian in the Phoenix Metro area. Click here to visit his Facebook Fan page.

Dr. Brown delivers Chiropractic adjustments, Acupuncture and therapies of the absolute highest quality. I know this because my mother, father, step-father, sister and soon-to-be brother-in-law are ALL Chiropractors. I can honestly say I have been adjusted by around 100 DC's in my life so far, and Dr. Brown's adjustments were always tops. He delivers quick accurate adjustments using appropriate force. Dr. Brown was my primary physician while I attended Arizona State University, and he kept me aligned and healthy while I was playing for the ASU Rugby team. I put more time on the field than most of my teammates because I was able to prevent injury and recover more rapidly with Dr. Brown's care. While I was at ASU I referred everyone that I heard complain of an injury, headache, soreness or health problem of any type to Dr. B, and I hope all his current patients are doing the same. Thanks, Doc!

After many years of going to different Chiropractors and trying Massage Therapy I still had severe lower back pain. I could only walk a short distance before I had to sit down or lean forward to relieve my back pain. If I had to stand for an extended period of time in one spot, such as washing dishes, I would have to clean two dishes and sit down. In short, I could not function. My wife forced me to see Dr. Brown. Since I had no results from all the different treatments I had in the past, I expected the same results. That is to say, no results. I am ecstatic to say that after the first visit at Dr. Brown's office in Tempe, I had NO PAIN! I was able to sleep for a full night, walk an entire mile for exercise, and do more than I ever had before without pain. I drive an hour and fifteen minutes, all the way from Surprise, to see Dr. Brown in Tempe, but it is worth the time. I also see Dr. Brown's Personal Trainer for Physiotherapy. I can't thank Dr. Brown and his team enough for giving me back my mobility.

Scott

Scott at Boston Marathon

When I first came to see Dr. Brown in January 2006 with severe lower back pain, I had limited mobility and was unable to run for several weeks. As a lifetime runner, I was deeply worried that my back problems would keep me from enjoying one of my true passions. Having never been treated by a Chiropractor, I was unsure how effective the treatments would be. To my amazement, I was running after just four treatments! My back began feeling so much better, that I was inspired to begin training for my first marathon, the San Diego Rock-n-Roll Marathon. During my marathon training, the continued treatments and training advice that Dr. Brown provided were invaluable. He helped me through some tough training that included some very long and hard training runs. In June of 2006, just five and a half months after my first visit, I stood at the starting line of the race with the confidence that I could accomplish my goal of completing my first marathon. Not only did I complete my first marathon, but I also accomplished what is many amateur runners' ultimate goal: qualify for the Boston Marathon. In April of 2007 I had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the 111th running of the Boston Marathon. The training for Boston was even tougher than my first marathon. I had many more sore muscles and even developed plantar fasciitis in my left foot just three weeks before the race. Once again, Dr. B's treatments and advice helped me be pain-free by race day. The experience and memories from the Boston Marathon are something that will be with me for a lifetime. I thank you and your staff for being a part of my training team. I really couldn't have done it without you.

I have had the great privilege of spending some time actually working for Dr. Brown. As a former nurse I had my reservations about Chiropractic and Acupuncture. My old school nursing taught me that it was hokey voodoo. I went to work for him simply because at the time I had quit nursing and needed a temporary job. He needed a temp to fill in for someone on maternity leave. I liked Dr. B and the staff so I thought what the heck. What it taught me was that I didn't need to pop a pill for every bit of pain I had and that pain issues were often deeper than what a traditional doctor could or would tell you. I ride horses a lot. When I started temping for Dr. Brown I also began jumping horses. When taking a horse at great speed towards a jump, sometimes they don't jump and stop suddenly. Being thrown off the horse and landing can do a number on your spine and other areas of your body. I had other stressors that caused a stiff neck and tension headaches. My first reaction was the old standby of Tylenol or Advil. Dr. Brown took some x-rays and began to treat specific areas for me with both manual manipulation and Acupuncture. Had I not experienced it I never would have believed it. Often stress would leave immediately. My back pain is all but gone and with the help of custom foot orthotics, my off-balance hips are starting to correct themselves. At first my adjustments and treatments were rather frequent. These days, thanks to Dr. Brown, I only need maintenance treatments. He certainly changed THIS nurse's mind about Chiropractic care and Acupuncture!

I have been seeing Dr. Brown for about 3 years now for different problems and I have had excellent results with the treatments. One of the problems I had was that I would get constant headaches from sitting in front of a computer terminal for 8-10 hours a day. With the Chiropractic and Acupuncture treatments I've received from Dr. Brown those headaches are now gone. I still go in for a "tune up" so that they don't come back. I must admit that I initially had some reservations about the Acupuncture since I don't like needles but Dr. Brown explained how the treatment worked, made me feel at ease, and always lets me know when he is inserting the needles on points where I may feel them as they are going in. I now feel at ease every time I go in for an Acupuncture treatment. Another problem that I had was that during the seasonal changes with my allergies I would get nosebleeds. Dr. Brown used the Acupuncture points for those and I have not had any more nosebleeds and my allergies are better controlled with the Acupuncture than with all the pills that my allergy doctor would prescribe. I don't feel the queasiness, nausea, drowsiness with the Acupuncture that I did with the allergy drugs.

I started coming to Brown Chiropractic back in 2002 when I was an MBA student at ASU. By the 6th week of school, lugging around my laptop and books had taken quite a toll on my right upper back and I knew something had to be done. At the time, Brown Chiropractic was in a little office at LA Fitness (nothing like the spacious office condo he's got now…I want one for my own real estate business!), so I stopped by after a workout and scheduled an appointment. I had never been to a Chiropractor before and I wasn't sure what to expect. However, I knew that anything would be better than having to live with that back pain for another day. From the x-rays to the Acupuncture to the initial adjustment, Dr. Brown explained things very clearly to me and in a way that made the whole process very comfortable. I started to feel better after my first adjustment and experienced even more progress after additional visits. After about 4 or 5 treatments, my shoulder pain was gone and I was back to good health. With regular exercise and a visit to Dr. Brown every few weeks or so, I stay healthy and pain-free. In fact, I look forward to the visits each time. The Acupuncture & Acupad treatment feels like a relaxing mini-massage and I usually fall asleep after about 10 minutes of it. Not a bad way to break up the work day! Thanks again, Dr. Brown!

My name is Jordan and I am 4 yrs old. I have Cerebral Palsy and moved to Arizona a year ago with my mommy and daddy. I have better doctors here to help me feel better. My mommy started to see Dr. Brown for her health and thought that he could help me too. I love to go see Dr. Brown because he makes me feel better and helps me to walk good so I can run and play with my friends. I love when he cracks my fingers, it makes me laugh. I love going there because everyone is so nice to me and that's what makes me feel good!

I always thought Chiropractic was for when you got into a car accident or hurt yourself at work. I had never really suffered from back pain but I did have other problems that I never would have thought were related to my spine. I met Dr. Brown in 1998 while working together in a Chiropractic clinic. He taught me that Chiropractic is not only for back pain, but also for the overall health and well-being of my body. Dr. Brown told me that when vertebrae are out of proper alignment they put pressure on my spinal cord nerves, which affects the function of my body. I had lived with severe menstrual cramps, tingling and numbness in my legs, and irregular bowel movements for as long as I could remember. I thought all of these things were normal for my body. Dr. Brown examined me and took x-rays of my spine. He saw that vertebrae were out of alignment and pinching nerves in my lower back. Those nerves were the ones that controlled the function of all the areas I was having trouble with. No joke, after my first week of treatment I no longer had tingling and numbness in my legs and I began having regular bowel movements. And the cramps still come and go but are not as severe as they used to be, which is still a great improvement. Thanks Doc, I'd still be suffering if it weren't for you!

I started working for Dr. Brown in October 2002, after moving to Arizona from Nebraska. Shortly before moving here I was experiencing horrible pain in my low back like I had never had before. I went to see a medical doctor and he told me I had a pinched nerve and prescribed me pain medication. I took the pain medication for a few weeks but soon realized that it was not helping my condition. Each day the pain medication wore off and I was stuck with two options, deal with the uncomfortable pain or take more of the pain medication. Dr. Brown took time with me and examined my problem and didn't rush to the next patient. He took x-rays, gave me an Acupuncture treatment and a Chiropractic adjustment. After a couple of treatments I felt great. I realized that with the combination of treatments that he does in the office really helps and solves painful problems fast. Now I know that pain medication can sometimes just be covering up an underlying condition or an injury that needs to be addressed with appropriate treatments. I am very thankful for all of Dr. Brown's help!

My name is Deena, and I first met Dr. Brown when he had his office inside the L.A. Fitness Sports Club in Tempe. I had some muscle problems which Dr. Brown helped me with, and then he told me about this fitness program call Body For Life. So I said, "I can do this", and through it all I lost fifty-one pounds of bodyfat in three months! Dr. Brown said he is proud of me and that made me feel so good about myself. Thank you Dr. Brown, you have had a very positive impact on my life and your friendship has been one of, if not the best, developments of the last five years.

As a business consultant specializing in Chiropractic pactices, I have been adjusted by literally hundreds of Chiropractors. Dr. Brown is at the top my list of great Docs. He is professional, but not formulaic, organized, but not rigid, and has a keen insight into his patients. His treatments work! Thanks again to him and his staff for a great, great adjustment. I cannot wait to visit their office again.

My name is Yvonne. I am from Fargo, North Dakota visiting my daughter and son-in-law. I have had enormous amounts of trouble with fluid retention in my feet and legs. I came to see Dr. Brown along with my daughter on one of my visits here. Dr. Brown and his staff were phenomenal with me. Dr. Brown thought he could really help me, so I took some time off work and came out here for a couple months. Within the first week, he and his staff had the fluid down. The idea is to push the fluid through. I have had Acupuncture, adjustments, massage therapy (which is heavenly) and personal training. Dr. Brown and his staff are awesome. The dedication they have to their work and patients is remarkable. I feel very blessed that they treat someone from out-of-state as if they have known me forever. Hats off to Brown Chiropractic & Acupuncture!
