AcupunctureAcupuncture Information OnlineDr. Brown received his training in Acupuncture from the International Academy of Medical Acupuncture in Phoenix, Arizona. The Academy's website has the best Acupuncture information on the Internet. Almost all questions about Acupuncture can be answered on their website at www.iama.edu. Another good internet resource for more information on Acupuncture is www.acupuncturetoday.com. Acupuncture In Our OfficeWhat is Acupuncture?Acupuncture is stimulation of Acupuncture points to control and regulate the flow and balance of energy of the body. We use only sterile, disposable Acupuncture needles. In our office we combine Acupuncture with Physiotherapy for the fastest results. Is Acupuncture painful? Acupuncture in our office is not painful, in fact, most people find it very relaxing. We utilize a variety of methods to stimulate Acupuncture points including needles, laser, electrical stimulation, magnetic stimulation and acupressure. If a person is averse to needles, the other methods of stimulation are equally effective. Pain relief is the number one use of Acupuncture. If you speak to someone who says they had Acupuncture and it was a painful experience, they probably had Acupuncture from a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Doctor, and it can be a very painful experience. Dr. Brown does a Japanese-inspired style of Acupuncture which relieves pain, and doesn't cause it. Is Acupuncture expensive? The cost of Acupuncture treatment varies in different parts of the country. However, the average appears to be between $50 and $85 per treatment. We charge $65 per Acupuncture treatment in our office. Because we combine Acupuncture and Physiotherapy treatment together, our average number of visits to treat a painful condition is much less than other Acupuncturists. Our average patient in pain is out of pain in 1-6 treatments. Conditions that respond well to Acupuncture:
Acupuncture for Allergies/Sinus CongestionFor people that live in the Phoenix area, allergies can be a problem. Even severe allergies can respond well to Acupuncture treatment. If Dr. Brown cannot get allergy sufferers off their medications completely, we almost always reduce the amount of medications they have to take. Most people feel relief with the first treatment and maximum results within 1-6 treatments.Acupuncture for Weight Loss/Appetite ControlAcupuncture alone will not make you lose weight. (Think how much we could charge if it did!) However, if you are making an effort to lose weight with a nutrition and exercise program, Acupuncture will help to control your appetite and stimulate your metabolism to make your weight loss easier. The usual treatment schedule is six (6) Acupuncture treatments, twice a week for the first week, and then once a week for four weeks after that. After six treatments you should be sticking to your exercise and nutrition program and your weight loss should be underway. You can return for Acupuncture treatments as needed.Testimonial - SusieFor almost two years I had been plagued with pain in my right hip and leg causing me to limp when I walked. I had developed severe arthritis in my hip due to complications from a surgery that required me to put all my weight on my right leg while I recovered. I joined 24-Hour Fitness in Tempe to see if I could ease my pain, had Physical Therapy and had seen three different Chiropractors all to no avail. One day as I was parking at 24-Hour Fitness and I saw Dr. Brown's office and thought about trying Acupuncture. I was immediately impressed with everyone that I spoke to and I could see that their expertise went beyond what I had already tried. Dr. Brown asked me to give him at least 12 weeks of treatment to see just what could be accomplished and he also suggested that I workout with Jeremy. So I have been coming 3 times a week since November of 2006. I am really seeing a difference in my pain management and I am becoming more limber and agile. At my age (69) I realize that I will need to continue to workout with Jeremy and see Dr. Brown occasionally to keep myself feeling good. It is so important as you get older to do what you can to maintain flexibility in your body so that you can reduce pain and stiffness. I thank God I found Dr. Brown and his staff. They have been wonderful to work with. My blessings go out to them.![]() Dr. B, Susie, Jeremy Testimonial - Tracy (Plantar Fasciitis)I want to thank you so much for all of your help! I have been dealing with my foot pain (plantar fasciitis) for over a year and have seen several medical doctors. Then about four weeks ago, when my foot specialist talked about surgery I was frantic. Being a hairstylist, I am on my feet up to eight hours a day. If I were to proceed with the surgery, I would not be able to work for up to four weeks. My husband mentioned to me to try Acupuncture and I am so glad I found your office! Now after your recommended treatment, I no longer have foot pain when I get out of bed in the morning. I am like a different person being able to do the things I love, like Step Class! Again, thank you so much! |
